Great Divide Trail

  • Canada’s Great Divide Trail stretches 1200km from the US border near Waterton to Kakwa National Park, several hours drive north of Jasper.
  • Of the total distance, Kristy and I walked 800km: Waterton to Field at 520km, then the Northern Terminus to Blueberry Lake, then Field to Saskatchewan Crossing.
  • The major issue was we got stopped by fires once we reached field. A fire burned the trail just north of Field and the next day Jasper National Park was on fire, closing all sections of the trail North of Field.
  • We persisted in getting back on the trail, and walked all sections that reopened. So we have 300km left to finish, one day…
