Great Divide Trail

  • The Great Divide Trail (GDT) is a rugged backcountry hiking route following the spine of the Canadian Rockies.
  • It offers breathtaking views and a deep connection to nature. While traversing remote wilderness areas, national parks, and provincial parks, the GDT provides a challenging and rewarding adventure for experienced hikers seeking solitude and natural beauty.
  • We started from the border of the United States and Canada on 28 June 2024. We completed Sections A, B and C before being stopped due to wildfires on 22 July.
  • The fires meant Sections D, E, F and G were all closed.
  • In late August we returned to the trail, going SOBO (southbound) and completing Section G to Blueberry Lake.
  • In early September we completed Section D after it was reopened with our last day on the trail in 2024 on 7 September.
  • We could not have attempted the thru hike without our amazing Resupply Legends (you know who you are!)
  • We look forward to completing E and F in the future. There is also an extension called The Great Divide Route that could be fun (Type 2 fun!)
